Our Background
Youon is a Jamaican native and has served assisting mission teams since he was approximately 15 years old. Jama is an American who has been serving in Jamaica since 2013. As they served together in Jamaica, their friendship deepened, and they were married in April 2016, in Jamaica. They both have a passion to serve God by serving His people. They feel very fortunate that they have continually been blessed, to be a blessing to others. They have unofficially been serving the people of Jamaica together since June 2015, but have now launched an official outreach ministry - Hope For Jamaica. Their mission is to be a Light to the people of Jamaica, by meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Jama is a graduate from Ball State University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Assistance Studies and Sociology. She has been a Legal Assistant since 1999. Jama also volunteers as a Group Exercise Instructor at her local YMCA; attends Destiny Christian Center International; and is involved in a women's bible study group. In addition to serving, her passions include fitness activities, such as biking, walking, hiking, rollerblading, tennis. Youon grew up in Jamaica, learning as many skills as he could, to gain independence, from the early age of 14 years old. He is a diver, does masonry work, is a skilled builder, and technician, as well as has assisted missions teams with outreach and building projects since he was a teenager. He is a compassionate, hard-working, honest, trustworthy, loyal man of God.
